SUPER SUB HAMILTON DELIVERS OVAL KILLER BLOW

A stoppage time Gary Hamilton strike saw Glenavon defeat Glentoran at The Oval.

Hamilton, a 68th minute substitute, knocked home the winner in the 92nd minute from the edge of the box to move his side to within a point of their hosts in sixth place.

Glentoran had an early chance when, on ten minutes, Jordan Stewart laid the ball off for David Scullion whose looped effort wasn't far away.

James Singleton opened the scoring for Glenavon after a quarter-of-an-hour when Ciaran Caldwell delivered a free-kick to the back post for the 19-year-old to head past 'keeper Elliott Morris.

Glentoran levelled eight minutes into the second half when, from a Scullion cross, Steven Gordon slid the ball past Alan Blayney into the bottom corner.

Curtis Allen might have fired Eddie Patterson's side in front on 77 minutes with a fine run and shot only for the ball to fall the wrong side of the upright.

However, it fell to Glenavon player-manager Hamilton to deliver the killer blow to grab the headlines in the most dramatic of fashion.
