Cliftonville lost more ground in the title race with this 2-2 draw at home to Warrenpoint Town, a result which lifts the visitors off the foot of the table.

Jay Donnelly opened the scoring for the Reds after 16 minutes with a right-foot shot from just outside the box which crept in at the near post.

John McGuigan might have levelled for Warrenpoint ten minutes later with a stinging shot from inside the box which 'keeper Peter Cherrie did well to tip over.

But 'Point's equaliser did arrive four minutes from the break after Stephen Hughes knocked the ball over the line from close range after connecting with a corner.

Daniel Hughes twice came close to putting Barry Gray's visitors in front early in the second half but on each occasion Cliftonville debutant 'keeper Cherrie did well to save.

Joe Gormley restored Cliftonville's advantage four minutes after the hour when, from a Tomas Cosgrove cross, he sent a delicate header back across the goal and past Johnny Parr.

However, with 11 minutes remaining, Mark Hughes grabbed Warrenpoint's second when he capitalised on a defensive error to blast an angled shot high into the net.
