PORTS GO TWO DOWN BUT SALVAGE A POINT

Portadown fought back from two goals down to earn a share of the spoils from Warrenpoint's visit to Shamrock Park.

Warrenpoint stunned their hosts with two goals in quick succession midway through the first half.

On 23 minutes Stephen McCabe opened the scoring with a left-foot strike which gave David Miskelly no chance.

Then, barely a minute later, Johnny Breen made it 2-0 with an angled, curling effort with his right-foot.

The Ports pulled a goal back two minutes into first half stoppage time, however, when Mark McAllister scrambled the ball home after the 'Point defence failed to clear a Chris Casement corner.

Despite enjoying large spells of possession the Ports struggled after the break in pursuit of the equaliser with substitute Gary Twigg perhaps coming closest on 65 minutes only to be denied from close range by Martin Marron.

Ronnie McFall's side were given a boost on 78 minutes when the visitors were reduced to ten men following Liam Bagnall's dismissal following an incident with Darren Murray.

And they made the most of their numerical advantage to level with six minutes remaining after Twigg got the final touch to a Murray throw-in.
