PORTS COMPLETE CUP FINAL PREPARATIONS WITH SHAMROCK DRAW

Irish Cup finalists Portadown limbered up for next week's decider by sharing the spoils with Linfield at Shamrock Park.

The Ports seized the early advantage after eight minutes when the ball fell for Darren Murray to stroke home.

Linfield levelled on ten minutes through Aaron Burns with a simple tap-in after Chris Hegarty had pulled the ball back.

Marcio Soares almost restored Portadown's lead right at the end of the first half with a run and shot off an upright.

Then, a couple of minutes after the break, Peter Thompson came within a whisker of marking his final Linfield appearance with a goal only to nod against the post.

Thompson was out of luck again just before the hour when he headed over from close range while Sean Ward later had a go from distance but David Miskelly dealt with the threat comfortably.
