MATCH PREVIEW - LINFIELD V CLIFTONVILLE
9th Feb 2015
IT’S the Blues vs the Reds on Tuesday as Linfield host Cliftonville at Windsor Park (745pm) in what could be a vital game in the race for the Premiership title.
If Warren Feeney’s side can grab the victory they will move a massive 11 points above the Reds and within a point of leaders Crusaders, but this is easier said than done as Linfield have won just once in their last 10 meetings against Cliftonville in the Danske Bank Premiership.
However overall current form certainly favours the Blues who have lost just once in their last 13 league games and have scored in each of their last 23 outings, while striker Andy Waterworth is in a rich vein of form hitting the net eight times in his last six appearances.
Cliftonville, despite winning a third successive Wasp Solutions League Cup in recent weeks, have faltered somewhat in their defence of the Danske Bank Premiership and are winless in six league games.
You have to go back to 13 December to find the last time the Reds recorded a league win, and go back even further to 22 November for their last away victory. However if there is one game that can motivate Tommy Breslin’s side it is a trip to Windsor Park.
The Reds defence has been only been breached twice in the last five Premiership meetings against the Blues and Cliftonville’s last three Premiership visits to Windsor Park has seen them win by a two-goal margin.
Whatever the form guide indicates, the outcome of this game is as hard to predict as ever.
