MALLARDS OPEN UP TEN POINT GAP ON WARRENPOINT
28th Nov 2014
Ballinamallard United opened up a ten point gap over Warrenpoint Town with this vital victory over Barry Gray's basement boys at Ferney Park.
Ryan Campbell had the ball in the net for the Mallards after 14 minutes only to see it ruled out offside.
Liam Martin was instrumental in breaking the deadlock on 32 minutes after his effort from a Mark Stafford ball deflected off the unfortunate Dermot McVeigh.
John Currie made it 2-0 just after the hour mark with a carefully placed rebound beyond Martin Marron after Martin had hit an upright.
'Point pulled one back on 71 minutes after Stefan McCusker spilled a shot from distance with Daniel Hughes following up to tap home the loose ball.
But, with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, Campbell finally got his name on the scoresheet with a finish from ten yards following some good work from Martin.
