LINFIELD HIT THREE SECOND HALF GOALS AT STANGMORE

Linfield remain three points off the pace in second spot following this victory at Stangmore Park.

In a fairly cautious opening to proceedings the sides traded half chances with a Niall Quinn free-kick taking a deflection past the Swifts goal while, at the other end, Conor Mullen delivered a curling left-foot effort from outside the box which Ross Glendinning did well to deal with.

That pattern continued as the game progressed with Matt Hazley testing Glendinning from inside the area followed by Stephen Lowry finding himself one-on-one with the Swifts 'keeper but Andy Coleman proved equal to the challenge.

The deadlock was broken nine minutes into the second half in Linfield's favour when Coleman failed to deal with Grant McCann's corner from the right allowing the ball to drop for Aaron Burns to slot home.

Dungannon might have levelled within minutes when a botched Glendinning clearance fell for Jamie Douglas but his returning lob fell just the wrong side of the right hand post.

But Jimmy Callacher made sure of the points for Linfield with 21 minutes remaining with a powerful close range header from another McCann delivery.

Then, ten minutes after that, Andrew Waterworth added a third for the Blues with a glancing header from Niall Quinn's left-sided cross.
