LATE HEADER EARNS GLENS THE POINTS AT STANGMORE

A headed rebound from a missed penalty four minutes from time proved to be the difference between Glentoran and Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.

The visitors started brightly, coming close to racing into the lead after just 90 seconds when Marcus Kane saw his effort from five yards well saved by Andy Coleman.

Then, a few minutes later, Curtis Allen got into a dangerous position before his shot on goal was cleared for a corner.

The deadlock was broken in Dungannon's favour, however, on 35 minutes when Jamie Tomelty slipped the ball in from the left for David McCullough to blast into the roof of the net.

But Glentoran came roaring back with two goals in as many minutes before the break.

First, on 39 minutes, Allen finished well following a Kane run down the left before, sixty seconds later, Jordan Stewart sent a left foot curling shot into the top corner giving Coleman no chance.

The Swifts levelled nine minutes after the break through Andrew Mitchell who collected the ball from a throw-in before turning to despatch a left-foot strike beyond Elliott Morris from outside the area.

Stewart might twice have added to his tally as the game entered the final quarter-of-an-hour, hitting the bar on 76 minutes and then an upright seven minutes after that.

And he had a hand in what proved to be the winner with four minutes remaining.

He provided the ball for Stephen Gordon to run onto before being brought down in the area. Gordon stepped up to take the subsequent spot-kick himself but could only fire it against the crossbar before Henderson pounced to nod home the rebound.
