GORDON DOUBLE GUIDES GLENS TO THE POINTS

Glentoran moved back up to fifth spot in the table after this comfortable defeat of Ballinamallard United at The Oval.

Steven Gordon opened the scoring for the Glens after a quarter-of-an-hour when he fired into the roof of the net from around six yards after pouncing when Mallards 'keeper Stefan McCusker dropped a corner delivered to the near post.

Gordon struck again eight minutes from the break to double Glentoran's advantage with a simple tap-in at the back post after Curtis Allen had performed brilliantly to drilled the ball in from the left.

The Glens dominated the first half and could point to David Scullion being denied by a goalline clearance, Allen hitting the bar and Gordon seeing a backpost header well saved to underline their superiority.

Allen got his name on the scoresheet with just over 15 minutes remaining with a lovely 10-yard finish beyond McCusker to put the outcome beyond doubt.

Gordon might have grabbed his hat-trick late in the game only to find the base of a post before, on 90 minutes, David Kee secured a late consolation for the visitors with a header.
