DINGO DOUBLE EARNS WIN FOR 'POINT

TWO Daniel Hughes goals saw Warrenpoint Town sweep to an ultimately comfortable victory over Ballymena United at Milltown and tighten things up considerably at the bottom of the table.

The opening half-an-hour or so was a lively, frantic affair with both sides having their chances.

Daniel Hughes came closest for 'Point when he rifled just over from eight yards as early as the third minute while United's Mark McCullagh could only look on as his effort was cleared off the line by Mark Hughes after a quarter-of-an-hour.

Then, on 26 minutes, Ciaran O'Connor was just wide from a Darren King cross as the hosts looked the more likely to find a way through.

That pattern continued after the break with Daniel Hughes twice being denied by United 'keeper Stuart Addis.

But he went one better on 70 minutes when he successfully converted from the spot, sending Addis the wrong way, after O'Connor had been upended by McCullagh.

And Hughes made sure of the points with seven minutes remaining after a composed finish beyond Addis.
