COSGROVE SAVES REDS WITH LATE GOAL

A Tomas Cosgrove goal in the closing minutes saw Cliftonville salvage a point from this visit to Stangmore Park.

The Reds started brightly with Martin Donnelly testing Andy Coleman from a free-kick which the Swifts 'keeper got down well to save at the near post.

Tomas Cosgrave and David McDaid also had half chances before Joe Gormley had the ball in the net when Coleman spilled a Martin Murray effort but this was ruled out offside.

Then, in the closing moments of the first half, McDaid found himself through one-on-one with the 'keeper but Coleman did well to deal with the challenge.

After the break Cosgrove took the ball down the right before crossing for Gormley only for defender Andrew Burns to clear the danger while, for the Swifts, Kris Lowe was allowed to drift through the defence before finishing poorly with a shot straight at Conor Devlin.

The deadlock was finally broken on 75 minutes when David McCullough found Jamie Douglas who, in turn, delivered a cross from the left for Andrew Mitchell to fire home at the back post.

But, with three minutes remaining, Cosgrove levelled for the Reds with a close range back post tap-in following a period of sustained pressure.
