BRANIFF STRIKE GIVES LURGAN BLUES THE EDGE

Glenavon came from a goal down to take the points from this clash with Dungannon Swifts at Mourneview Park.

The Swifts moved into the lead after half-an-hour following a move which saw Jamie Douglas, Jamie Glackin and Matt Hazley combine to release skipper Ryan Harpur to deliver a shot below Glenavon 'keeper James McGrath.

But Glenavon got back on level terms seven minutes later through Rhys Marshall after he met a Kyle Neill corner to nod past Andy Coleman.

What proved to be the winner came just six minutes into the second half when recent Glenavon signing Declan O'Brien touched the ball on for Kevin Braniff to deliver a superbly executed curling effort beyond Coleman's reach from the edge of the area.

The Lurgan Blues might have extended their advantage as the half progressed with O'Brien seeing an effort blocked before Coleman was forced into a quick reaction after the ball fell invitingly for Neill.
