BLUES OUT IN FRONT
13th Oct 2014
Linfield moved two points clear at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership following this defeat of Institute at Windsor Park.
With kick-off delayed half-an-hour due to an electrical failure the Blues only needed a couple of minutes to move in front once things got underway when an Aaron Burns cross to the far post was nodded home by Chris Hegarty.
'Stute levelled seven minutes later, however, after Cormac Burke floated a delivery over from the left for Stephen O'Flynn to head beyond Johnny Tuffey.
Linfield regained the advantage three minutes into first half stoppage time after Ivan Sproule brought the ball into the area before laying it off for Andrew Waterworth to fire low and hard past Eugene Ferry.
Stephen Lowry then completed the scoring just after the hour mark with an effort from the edge of the area which referee Evan Boyce initially disallowed before consulting with his assistant referee to allow the goal to stand.
