BARRY GRAY'S MEN GRAB IMPORTANT POINT AT MILLTOWN

Warrenpoint Town collected a precious point following this scoreless draw with Irish Cup finalists Portadown.

Although scoreless at the break both sides had their chances in a fairly lively first half.

Daniel and Stephen Hughes proved an early threat for 'Point in front of goal while Peter McMahon fired narrowly wide at the other end.

And as the half progressed McMahon will be regretting making the most of a Johnny Parr spill from a Mark McAllister cross.

Warrenpoint's best chance came moments from the break when Daniel Hughes got past two defenders only to fire straight at Billy Brennan.

He had another great opportunity just after the hour when, after taking the ball past Robert Garrett, he was forced wide by Brennan before the ball ended up in the side netting.

Perhaps Portadown's best chance of the second half came with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Gary Twigg saw an effort well saved by Parr from point blank range.
